“What I Do Not See, I Do Not Understand. What I Do Not Understand, I Do Not Value.”
Approximately 12.7 million tons of plastic are dumped into the oceans every year, and between 70% and 90% of coral reefs and their ecosystems may disappear in the next 20 years. It is estimated that 90% of global fish stocks are overfished or fully exploited.
The production of documentaries and studies aims to highlight the connection between life on land and its consequences in the ocean, exploring the relationships of communities and cities with rivers, oceans, and lakes. It seeks to give voice to those already working on or developing solutions and businesses that will actively contribute to the preservation of aquatic ecosystems.
The goal is to illustrate the systemic relationships and feedback loops of water, with two objectives:
Awareness about the systemic relationships of water (food production, conservation, waste reduction, waste management, consumption habits) and Brazil’s potential to position itself as a leader in Blue Economy in Latin America.
Call-to-action to tangibly demonstrate how key problems are being ‘mitigated’ or ‘avoided’ through innovative solutions offered by startups, entrepreneurs, and researchers.
